In this section I will guide you through
the procedure for installing a typical
fountain. Click on any image for a larger
view.
1. I usually pour concrete under
the tub so as to support the heavy
weight, and then leave a light layer
of sand to buffer the tub from the
concrete.
2. For support underneath the
fountain I usually double up the
concrete blocks for added
strength.
3. Use solid concrete pavers or
wall cap stones (as shown) to
elevate the fountain to the
desired level
4. I like to use nylon web slings to
lift the stones with; chains and
wire rope can leave damaging
marks. Note how the slings cross
and will bind on each other.
5. You can use a crane, forklift,
or other piece of equipment that
has the lifting capacity to safely
handle the load.
6. Never count on your pool or
stone to be level. Sometimes
you have to grind the edges with
a diamond cup wheel to get the
water to flow evenly.
7. With this fountain it was
easy to level just by shimming
the edge of the base of the
fountain stone with some hard
plastic wedges.
8. Next we run the pump
hose and light electrical cord
down through the center hole.
9. I stuff newspaper in the
center hole around the
tubing and electrical cord
then ply a layer of hydraulic
cement over to seal the hole.
10. Once the cement dries (5
minutes) then coil up the
extra electrical cord, place
the lamp in its receptacle,
attach the pump to its hose
and turn on the power...enjoy!
